“...worse than feeling cold, up and down the waves of the Indian Ocean, would be to not have left the warm and comfortable waters of Paraty, even if it was only to uncover how warm and comfortable they are... Today, I understand my father - a man needs to travel, not by chronicles, images, books or television, but with his own eyes - plant his own tree and acknowledge its value... acknowledge the cold to admire the warm, acknowledge distance to value his own roof.”

Klink, Amyr. Endless Sea. Sheridan House, 2008.

Anything moves a bucket of Lilies
The vehicle consists of 2 main components, an upper and lower body. This design allows the vehicle to be produced and assembled without the use of standard welding and painting techniques. The electronic modules are placed in the lowest, center area of the package, allocating the center of gravity below the roll center and providing safety in case of crashing. For simple and convenient recharging, the use of induction coupling technology permits the vehicle to be recharged during parking times.

Applying the theory of computer network, the concept of batch production was extended to net production (also known as postponement), allowing production flexibility, reducing corporate expansion costs, cutting down CO2 emissions, helping demographic distribution and city planning. The use of existing distribution network excludes the requirement for special transport, such as car carries and ships, both inefficient and expensive.

For a perfect understand of the project and its development, the uncut report is available for download.
Check it out a short film about this concept.

Scouter
For a scooter, something that I don’t want is the “bee noise” and the “geek” looks. Today, most of the buyers of scooters and mopads are young students, in which case are very forward thinking and connected to different life-styles. A new approach for these people must be taken, and one suggestion is the combination of a scooter with a mopad.

The cost-benefit of the first combined with the attitude of the other makes an interesting market product, a new business opportunity.

Vintage Sport
Storyboard describing the script for the cameras of the scene. The goal of this project was achieved by creating a movie that not only represents the simplicity of the design, but moreover emphasize the dynamics of the suspension and overall driving experience. Vehicle was designed within Autodesk© Alias StudioTools™ and McNeel© Rhinoceros™. Check out the final animation.

Branding
Analyze the market and design a vehicle for that particular target group. In this case, Mont Blanc showed that being a prestige, corporate product, a helicopter should be the main vehicle for transport... While extracting the aesthetics of this life style, a concept were the helicopter lands in a dock, for refueling and data exchange, creates a direct link with usage of a fountain pen and its ink cup.

A short review of the company market and history, and how it reflects the philosophy of the brand is available for download.

Solifer Polar
Project in collaboration with SoliferPolar AB. The proposal consists in outsourcing the rental and interior construction in consideration with target group. Design constrains were based on collages rather than sketches, were a caravan should reflect an habitation rather than a vehicle.

The proposed briefing presentation can be found here.

Voyage into the utmost.
As part of specific project or barely for amusement, the folowing sketches ilustrates ideas, designs and affection for simple curves and surfaces, a common cue during my work. Enjoy.

Volkswagen Work Experience
From ignition keys to concept vehicles, most of the time the work was done within companion of São Paulo studio, and approval of Germany headquarters. In this manner, I developed good communications skills, as well technical abilities. Knowing how a project is conducted in the real world environment and how to deal with different areas of the company is now something that I feel familiar with.

Here, a small sample of a daily problem, a redesign of the wipers lever. The input from Product Planning was to style a new component within the same package. The final output consisted in 2 proposals, the first with a more ergonomic shape and better interaction interface. The second submission incorporates lightning functions to help in reducing production costs.

RhinoOSX
Part appreciation, part self indulgence, the involvement in RhinoOSX Wenatchee testing group teaches me something more than ordinary.
Here, a small contribution for the Installer PKG - first, a screenshot of the proposed layout, followed by the approved design due kernel requirements. Release date: TBD, check official website.

Photography
These are some shots done with a compact Leica C-Lux2 and benefited from photoshop for adjustments of levels and saturation. From now on I will be posting some analog photos also, but for the moment they are still under development - a resurrection of an old and dusted Nikon F80, with AF 50mm f/1.4D lenses.

My immense inspiration comes from Joachim Falck-Hansen, a very good friend and one of the best photographers I have ever met... Please take some time to browse through his works.

Spirit
Born in 1979, the interest for arts and crafts began during my childhood, at my father’s wood-workshop. From building simple pieces of furniture, the mind was set to keep thinking about new solutions and designs. Later on outdoors sports became quite important, and like so, sailing and running are still strong factors in my habits.

Form and shape became the main focus of my studies, which guided me to Volkswagen Automotive. Just after working at Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge, I realized that the combination of form and function is the most important balance in design. Like so, I decided to go back to studies, where form follows function... Sweden, and its Scandinavian Design. Today, more than ever, I see that design is a combination of a number of things, much more complex than only form, or function.

Along with hand sketching, clay modeling and different analog tools, I try to develop as many digital skills as possible cause they tend to create better and faster results. Despite not abandoning free hand sketching, I mainly use this technique to put down on paper as many ideas as possible, and do not worry too much about the quality of lines or shading... This is usually resolved with digital tools, both 2D and 3D.
